Course Outline
Information Technology 10 is an introductory junior level course in Information Technology. It is intended to give students an introduction to many different aspects of computers and to develop a wide-range of computer literacy skills. Students will develop knowledge and skills in computer fundamentals, business applications, computer programming, use of the internet, graphic design and web site design. After taking IT 10, students can choose to move on to more advanced computer courses in Computer Science, Computer Applications, or Computer Graphics.
In this course students will:
- use a variety of tools to access and manage information
- apply information literacy and technology skills to real life problems
- develop basic computer application skills for both personal and business use
- investigate the effects of information technology and the internet on society
- practice acceptable and ethical use of information technology tools and the internet
- develop computer programs to solve problems
- develop a working vocabulary and familiarity with information technology terms
- use the Internet for research, and learn to reference and evaluate the information they find
- develop multimedia Web pages for the World Wide Web
